Interpreting Chinese Culture-specific Words And Expressions From The Perspective Of Interpretive Theory

Since the reform and opening up,China has entered into the period of rapid development.With the deepening of globalization,the relationship among countries in the world is increasingly close and the exchanges become frequent.Translation and interpretation play significant role as the bridge to help the exchanges.The yearly press conference of NPC attracts the media from home and abroad.The interpretation on the press conference connects people who share different cultural backgrounds.During the process of the press conference,there are some Chinese culture-specific words and expressions which may pose difficulties for the interpreter.Chinese culture-specific words and expressions have abundant connotative meanings and the interpreter needs to judge and convey the information in accordance with the context.Under such circumstance,the study of Chinese culture-specific words and expressions is instrumental in enriching the relevant academic studies and meets the practical needs.The Interpretive Theory which is put forward with a large number of experiments is applied to the interpretation practice and training.According to the Interpretive Theory,the purpose of the interpretation is to convey the communicative sense and the process of the interpretation includes comprehension,deverbalization and re-expression,which has a strong guidance to the interpretation.Literal translation,free translation,explanatory translation and semantic translation are used to analyze the interpretation of Chinese culture-specific words and expressions on the press conference in 2020 from the perspective of the Interpretive Theory and the Chinese culture specific words and expressions which adopt different strategies are summarized in this thesis and the thesis studies the application of the Triangular Model in the process of the interpretation.Throughout the studies of the data by using the Interpretive Theory,it is found that the Interpretive Theory is of guiding significance to the interpretation of Chinese culture-specific words and expressions.In the process of the interpretation,the communicative sense can be transferred better under the guiding of the Triangular Model of the Interpretive Theory.Through the analysis of the application of the Interpretive Theory in the interpretation of Chinese culture-specific words and expressions,this thesis aims to provide some references for the study of the interpretation of Chinese culture-specific words and expressions.
