Discussion On The Translation Problems Of Words And Sentences In The Process Of English-Chinese Translation Of Academic Journal Articles

China and Western developed countries have increasingly strengthened research on translation academic journal articles,and more and more English translation academic journal articles have been used by China for reference.Therefore,the demand for Chinese translation of English original translation academic journal articles is increasing.This translation practice uses The Translator,one of the SSCI and A&HCI’s translation studies journals,as the source of corpus.The author of the present study selected and translated five academic journal articles.This translation practice report recounts the translation problems encountered in the process of translating the texts of translation academic journals papers and the countermeasures that can be taken in response to different problems from the vocabulary and sentence levels.This research is conducive to promoting academic exchanges in the translation of academic journal articles at home and abroad as well as expanding the international vision of China’s translation of academic journal articles.It is also expected to broaden the horizons of translation researchers and scholars,and provide a Western style of thinking for Chinese translation studies.The methods and translation research methods have certain reference significance for other translators to study the Chinese translation practice of English translation academic journal texts.This report is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,which mainly introduces the task background,task significance and research content.The second chapter is the task process,including pre-translation preparation,translation process and post-translation review.The third chapter is a literature review and an overview of the characteristics of the original text.It discusses an overview of the research on English academic journals and the language characteristics of the papers in The Translator.The fourth chapter is about the problems and countermeasures in the Chinese translation of The Translator.The problems in the process of translating the papers of The Translator are mainly manifested at the word level and sentence level.Translation problems at the lexical level are divided into inappropriate choice of word meaning,inaccurate translation of professional terms,and unclear reference to words;translation problems at the sentence level are mainly improper arrangement of word order,inappropriate division of meaning groups,and incorrect choice of tense.Through thinking and analyzing these problems,they can be effectively solved by taking countermeasures.The last chapter is the conclusion,summarizing the main findings and limitations of this research.
