Study On The English Translation Of Shaanxi History Museum Commentaries From The Perspective Of Eco-Translatology

Xi’an is not only a famous historical and cultural city,but also an important node city of the Belt and Road Initiative,which was once a hub and gate for east economic and cultural exchanges with western countries,and which once again stands in a high-profile position to the world.Shaanxi History Museum attracts a large number of foreign tourists every year with its rich cultural relics and profound cultural heritage.The bilingual commentary inside the museum is the most direct window for foreign visitors to know about Chinese civilization,playing a very significant role in culture exchanges with foreign countries.Eco-translatology is a new translation research system that integrates science and humanities put forward by Hu Gengshen at the beginning of the 21st century.Based on the core concepts of Eco-Holism,Eastern Eco-Wisdom,and the Evolution Theory of Darwinian,it provides a systematic explanation for those questions like "What Is Translation?","Who Translates?","How to Translate?","Why to Translate?",and has a powerful interpretation and applicability for translation studies.With the development of Eco-translatology researches,China has evolved from a "follower" to "leader" of translation theories.Based on the Eco-translatology and with its basic translation practice method "Three-dimensional transformations" as the framework,this thesis analyses the degree of the three-dimensional transformations of the English translation of the commentaries through a large number of examples in Shaanxi History Museum.And this study explores the English translation of Shaanxi History Museum commentaries from three aspects:firstly it introduces previous studies on Eco-translatology and museum commentaries translation at home and abroad;secondly,it expounds the core concepts of Eco-translatology,such as translator centeredness,translational eco-environment and so on,which would lay a firm groundwork for the following research;finally,it conducts a multi-dimensional analysis on the translation of commentaries in translational eco-environment and so on,which would lay a firm groundwork for the following research;finally,it conducts a multi-dimensional analysis on the translation of commentaries in Shaanxi History Museum at linguistic,culture and communication level,thereby improving the translation quality and cross-culture communication effect of museum commentaries.The results of the study show that Eco-translatology provides a new elaboration of translational environment,translation principles,translation processes,translation methods,and so on,which is a new attempt to commentary translation with its strong operability and practical guiding effect.And the translational eco-environment plays an essential role in the process of the commentaries translation,which is significant to the production of the Professor Yang Hongying’s English translation.
