The Research About The “V+ge+XP” Structure

The “V+ge+XP” structure is usually used in the dialogues of modern Chinese oral.“ge”is also a quantifier which is widely used.However,the “ge” of the “V+ge+XP” structure is different from the quantifier “ge”.They have their own pragmatic functions.And the pragmatic functions are different.It is seemed that The “V+ge+XP” structure has the particular pragmatic function.We are so attracted to the linguistic mysteries that we decide to do some research.It is believed that we could find the mysteries of the structure “V+ge+XP”by researching more comprehensively.We take the structure of “V+ge+XP” as a subject of study,and we attempt to understand the structure better by analyzing the internal structure,pragmatic function and “ge” of the structure.Firstly,this article collects the “V” and “XP” that can enter the “V+ge+XP”structure as comprehensive as possible.Secondly,according to the “XP” which could enter the structure,the “V+ge+XP”structure can be divided into two parts.One is the verb-object structure,the other is verb-complement structure.Last but not least,this article compares and analyzes “ge” of the structure “V+ge+XP”with other parts of speech.Pass the contrast,we attempt to judge the property of “ge”.Then,the function of “ge” in two pats of structures can be analyzed.Finally,we analyze the pragmatic function of the two parts of the structures.There are some main conclusions of this article:1.We argue that the “ V+ge+XP ” structre can be verb-object structure or verb-complement structure in specific context.2.There are some differences between “ge” and quantifier in phonetic,semantic and grammatical aspects.There are some differences between “ge” and complement mark “de”in posterior component,grammar and pragmatic function.We find that “ge” of “V+ge+XP”is neither a typical quantifier nor a typical complement mark.“ge” is the scalar marking.3.We argue that “ge” could bounded and nominalize “XP” and “ge” is the marking of quantities.4.The verb-object structure of “V+ge+XP” indicates subjective small quantity,and the verb-complement structure of “V+ge+XP” indicates subjective high quantity.
