This is a report for the translation project of Chapter 7 to Chapter 10 of Political Animals:Animal Protection Politics in Britain and the United States,a book written by Robert Garner,a professor at University of Leicester in England. The main research methods employed are literature review and case study analysis. The book revolves around the comparison and analysis of the current state of animal protection policies in the United Kingdom and the United States. The original text is characterized by an excessive number of abbreviations and culturally loaded words, unclear logical relationship of sentences, and prominent communicative intention. To this end,the author adopts the "three-dimensional" translation method under the guidance of eco-translatology,expounds the translated text focusing on three dimensions —linguistic dimension, cultural dimension and communicative dimension, and then summarizes the translation practice results and shortcomings. This study can provide some reference and cases for the applied research of eco-translatology,especially for the Chinese translation process of texts with animal protectionism as the theme. At the same time,as a work on the theme of animal protectionism policy, the translation of this book into Chinese can provide some raw materials for Chinese scholars to study British and American animal protection policies.
