| Learning motivation is an important affective factor that influences the effect of second language learning.It provides learners with the motivation to start learning,and maintains learners’ continuous efforts and progress towards learning goals.A thorough understanding of the general learning motivation of Nigerian Chinese learners is conducive to the adoption of a "tailor-made" approach to develop a teaching plan in line with regional characteristics,to improve the overall academic level of Chinese learners,and to promote the development of Chinese teaching in Nigeria.Based on the relevant research results at home and abroad,this research mainly analyzes the correlation among the learning effect,motivation and strategy of Nigerian students coming to China.First of all,combining with the basic personal situation of Chinese language learners,Chinese learning motivation and future development intention of Confucius Institute of Nnamdi Azikiwe University,a series of interview activities were arranged to make up for the possible omissions in the process of questionnaire survey.Secondly,after sorting out all the data,three outstanding learning motivations of Nigerian Chinese learners are summed up:1.Although the original intention of learning Chinese is different,all the interviewees unanimously affirm the positive effect of Chinese learning on their own development and the application value of Chinese as an international language.2.Most of the interviewees hope to master the basic communication ability and are very happy to have the opportunity to study in China.Most of them hope to get a better learning and living environment by learning Chinese.3.All interviewees think that Chinese course learning is "acquisitive",but they also point out that there are some deficiencies in Chinese teaching in Nigeria at the present stage.For example,there are few learning materials,few practical opportunities and single learning forms,which inevitably frustrate the intrinsic motivation of Nigerian Chinese learners and restrict the further development of Chinese teaching.Finally,according to the characteristics of Chinese learning of Nigerian students,we put forward suggestions from the perspective of teachers,Confucius Institute and learners to maintain and stimulate learning motivation and improve learning strategies.The results of this research can provide theoretical help for the future Chinese teaching of Confucius Institute in Nigeria. |
