Emotion or Reason1 is an academic paper which is written by Zhao Fasheng. In this report, the C-E translation materials are excerpted from the introduction and the first two chapters with over 10,000 words.Five parts are included to introduce the translation. In Part One,the author introduces the origin of the translation materials and the purpose and significance of the translation practice.Part Two is the analysis made to the translation process, involving the preparation before translation, translation difficulties during the translation process and revision after translation.Part Three and Part Four are the description of Eco-translatology and case study which analyzes how to solve the translation difficulties under the guidance of Eco-translatology.Part Five is the conclusion involving the findings and limitations on this translation practice. In the process of translation, the translator always takes Eco-translatology as the theoretical support to solve the translation difficulties in a targeted way and summarize appropriate translation methods based on the principle of "adaptation and selection" and the transformation from three dimensions, the linguistic dimension, the cultural dimension and the communicative dimension. From the linguistic dimension, the author transforms the original language form through such methods as addition, conversion and combination,so as to make the translation more in line with the habits of English expression;from the cultural dimension, the author mainly uses transliteration with explanation and free translation to translate philosophical terms and culture-loaded words,so as to retain the culture and spread the philosophical ideas in the source text;from the communicative dimension, the author mainly chooses omission and literal translation plus free translation to achieve the communicative intention.Through this translation practice, the author hopes to have some guiding significance for the English translation of Chinese philosophical classics. |
