| Based on the translation of Chapter 5 of Money and Government:The Past and Future of Economics as an example,the author conducted a case study to analyse the explicitation strategy in the translation of economics texts.The report discussed former studies on translations of economics texts and studies of explicitation strategy.Concerning the translations of economics texts,the translator explored the translation principles and strategies.With regard to explicitation strategy,the translator analysed examples in Chapter 5 of the book from perspectives of obligatory explicitation,optional explicitation and pragmatic explicitation;The translator hopes that this report can provide help for the subsequent translation of economics textsFrom the perspective of obligatory explicitation,the grammatical structure and semantics must be clarified,otherwise,it will be difficult for readers to understand the text;from the perspective of optional explicitation,the vivid information needs to be further clarified,otherwise,the reading experience of readers is not smooth enough;from the perspective of pragmatic explicitation,the translator needs to translate based on the cultural background knowledge.Concerning the translation of terms,for terms that already have official translations,the translator should search for their official translations and use them;for terms that still have no specific translations,the translator should come up with the translation based on the research of related professional knowledge and their meaning in the context,combined with dimensions of transcription,literal translation and so on. |
