Abstract/Summary:
The teaching of Chinese characters is a crucial part of further improving the teaching effect and cultivating learners’ Chinese proficiency.For learners in non-native speaks of Chinese character cultural circles,Chinese characters are also a major difficulty for them to learn Chinese.Firstly,from the physical point of view,there is a big difference between Chinese characters and phonetic alphabet;secondly,from the attribute point of view,Chinese characters are ideographic characters that integrate "shape,sound and meaning".In addition,in the compilation and teaching design of common elementary Chinese textbooks,"Ci" is used as the basic teaching elements,which weakens the existence of "Zi" and breaks up the relationship between Zi and Ci.Chinese character is detached from Chinese teaching,and "Zi" can be treated as the basic of Chinese.The structural element has not got the attention it deserves.These have increased the difficulty of learning Chinese characters.This article hopes to start with the relationship between Zi and Ci,and through combing the relationship,point out that characters and words are the basic constituent elements of Chinese structure,and then lead to the Zici-based theory,and explain its concept,to further explore and enrich the theory of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language.At the same time,we using survey research and statistics methods to analyze and summarize the words list in the classic textbook GREAT WALL CHINESE·Essentials in Communication 1,and sort out the core words and core word groups.Take the fifth unit of GREAT WALL CHINESE·Essentials in Communication 1 as an example to design and display the Chinese character block,and further implement teaching practices.Through the use of new teaching concepts to carry out innovative design and teaching practice of the Chinese character block in the textbook,the author summarizes a series of feasible methods and draws the following conclusions:1.In the process of teaching Chinese characters to foreigners,Zi and Ci should be placed in an equally important position.Zi and Ci are the basic structural elements of Chinese.In the textbook compilation and teaching design,one should not pay too much attention to Ci and ignore the components of Zi.2.The Zici-based theory emphasizes the equal emphasis on Zi and Ci,"Zi" is a visual symbol of written language;"Ci" is the concept of unit syllable in the phonetic system,and a semantic unit composed of a certain meaning.To record the conceptual meaning with voice,the combination of sound and meaning is the Ci;the combination of form and meaning that carries the meaning in the stroke configuration is the Zi.Zi and Ci have a complementary and corresponding relationship.The smallest semantic unit of all phonetic expressions is a Ci,and the combination of form,sound and meaning of all written expressions is a Zi.3.Use the Zici-based theory to carry out the teaching from word to word groups,which will help students overcome the difficulty of learning Chinese characters;help students remodel the "view of Chinese characters";cultivate students’ ability to organise words and expand words.
