| In the process of social interaction,people will have all kinds of interpersonal conflicts due to the differences of interests and values.Interpersonal conflict is often accompanied by a large number of negative emotions,which seriously affect people’s physical and mental health.Harmonious interpersonal relationships and social support are essential to people’s physical and mental health.Therefore,this study adopts interview method and experimental method to investigate the differences in emotional types,emotional intensity and coping styles between the elderly and the young in interpersonal conflicts.In the first study,convenience sampling method was adopted to select 33 elderly people in community and 24 college students.Through interviews,the age differences of conflict types,emotional types,intensity and coping styles in interpersonal conflicts were explored around interpersonal conflict events encountered in daily life.The results showed that(1)there was no significant difference between age groups in the types of interpersonal conflict.Value conflict was important in both young and old age groups.(2)Anger was the most common negative emotion in interpersonal conflict,and there was no significant difference in emotional intensity between the elderly and the young.(3)There was no significant difference in the use of the four coping strategies between the elderly and the young.In the second study,25 elderly people in the community and 24 college students were randomly selected,and the ultimatum fome paradigm was used to artificially create interpersonal conflict events in the laboratory setting,to investigate whether there is age difference in the way individuals deal with unfair treatment.The experimental design was a mixed design of 2(age: old people,young people)×2(proposer: computer,human)×4(allocation :¥5:¥5,¥7:¥3,¥8:¥2,¥9:¥1),in which age was the inter-subject factor,assignment opponent and assignment scheme were the intra-subject variables,and the dependent variable was the acceptance rate.The results showed that:(1)The main effect of distribution scheme was significant,and the acceptance rate of participants under unfair distribution was significantly lower than that under fair distribution.When the allocation was ¥9:¥1,the acceptance rate reached the lowest.(2)The main effect of age was significant.On the condition of unfair distribution,the acceptance rate of the elderly was significantly higher than that of the young.(3)The acceptance rate of young people was significantly lower than that of the elderly when the inequality of allcation becomes more severe.Under the conditions of this study,the following conclusions are drawn: in daily interpersonal conflicts,the types of emotions experienced by individuals are different,and anger is the most frequent;In daily interpersonal conflict,there was no significant difference in the intensity of negative emotions and the frequency of coping styles between the elderly and the young.In interpersonal conflict in laboratory setting,the elderly tend to use avoidance strategies. |
