| With the vigorous development of globalization and the deepening of China’s integration into the world,cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries are frequent.As one of the important means of cultural communication,audio-visual culture has a significant influence on cross-cultural communication.As an important part of audio-visual cultural communication,subtitle translation directly affects the success or failure of cultural communication.Therefore,subtitle translation is becoming more and more important.This project focuses on the subtitle translation of the Shandong cuisine series in the documentary The Intangible Cultural Heritage Gourmet produced and broadcast by Jiangxi Satellite TV.Taking Newmark’s semantic translation and communicative translation as the main guiding theories,this report analyzes the translation methods of typical words,sentences and studies the approaches to the style of the original text and the translated text in the translation process.This paper also discusses common methods and strategies for subtitle translation in documentaries,such as literal translation,free translation,transliteration,and annotation.In addition,this report is mainly divided into four parts: task description,process description,case analysis and post-translation summary.Since ancient times,mankind’s love for delicious food has never changed.Taking food as the theme can attract many like-minded foreign friends to enjoy the charm of Chinese intangible cultural heritage food.As a part of China’s excellent traditional culture,intangible cultural heritage food also integrates a large number of cultural factors in the development process.Therefore,the translator hopes to promote the“going out” of China’s intangible cultural heritage food and carry forward China’s excellent traditional culture through this translation.At the same time,the translator also hopes that the analysis of this translation task in this report can play a certain supplementary role in the current subtitle translation work,provide experience and reference for similar publicity texts,and make a modest contribution. |
