Against the background of globalization,international exchanges are becoming increasingly frequent.The translation of the annual report helps enhance the understanding of enterprises and strengthen extensive exchanges and cooperation.The writer of this translation practice report chose the first two chapters of the 2020-2021 Corporate Social Responsibility Report of the world’s largest semiconductor technology company Intel and did the translation independently.The source text is focused on the COVID-19 response,company introduction,2030 RISE strategy,the business scope of the company,etc.Under the guidance of Newmark’s communicative translation strategy,this translation practice report explores the translation techniques of the selected text type,including how to achieve accuracy and fluency at lexical,syntactic,and textual levels in the translation of the company annual report.The report consists of five chapters.Chapter One is task description,including the background of this translation task,analysis of the features of the translated text,and the purpose and significance of this project.Chapter Two reviews current studies on theories involved in the translation of annual reports,focusing on the application of Peter Newmark’s communicative translation theory.Chapter Three expounds on the translation process covering pre-,while-and post-translation stages.Chapter Four presents case analysis on lexical,syntactic,and textual levels,focusing on the translation of abbreviations,technical terms,passive voice,long and difficult sentences,as well as textual cohesion and coherence.Finally,the gains and reflections in the process of translation are summarized,and the limitations and shortcomings are discussed.Overall,this translation is significant from both theoretical and practical aspects.First of all,from a theoretical perspective,this translation provides a certain reference for subsequent researchers and translators in the translation of company annual reports based on communicative translation.Then,from the perspective of practice,the source text involves technical terms as well as measures and strategies taken by enterprises in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic,of which no relevant translation has been done.This translation practice has completed this task.The final result of the translation can also provide some reference for the development of domestic enterprises.
