A Study Of EST Interpretation From The Perspective Of Interpretive Theory ——A Case Analysis Of Samsung Galaxy S21 Series Product Launch Event

Nowadays,with the vigorous development of human science,countless high-tech products come into view,which are subtly changing our lives.The new product launch event is an important way for technology companies to publicize their latest products,and it is also the crucial way for the public to have a comprehensive understanding of their new products.As the audience of high-tech product launch event is people all over the world,the simultaneous interpretation of high-tech product launch event is particularly important,which also makes English for Science and Technology（EST）interpretation develop rapidly.In this case,the exploration and study of EST and EST interpretation will not only help their developments,but also meet the practical needs.The objective of this thesis is to study and analyze EST interpretation under the guidance of the Interpretive Theory.Interpretive Theory is a interpretation theory which was established by Danica Seleskovich of Paris Higher Translation School in 1960 s,focusing on interpretation teaching.Interpretative Theory is the first logically rigorous interpretation theory in the world,and it is also one of the most accepted and recognized theories among many English interpretation theories.Under the guidance of the Interpretive Theory,this thesis studies and analyzes the simultaneous interpretation of Samsung Galaxy S21 Series Product Launch Event held in 2021,and finds that Interpretive Theory can effectively guide EST interpretation.The simultaneous interpretation corpus comes from Samsung official website.On the basis of combining traditional interpretation theories,Interpretative Theory has studied and evolved a brand new theory of triangular interpretation method,which holds the view that interpreting activities can be accurately divided into three steps: Comprehension,Deverbalization and Re-expression.This is not a plain linear conversion process,nor is it a simple mutual conversion between languages,but a triangular process.Through the study of the Interpretive Theory and the analysis of simultaneous interpretation of Samsung Galaxy S21 Series Product Launch Event,this thesis can draw a conclusion that EST interpretation requires high professional quality of interpreters,and EST interpretation is much more difficult and complicated than interpretations in other fields.Through the correct application of Interpretive Theory,interpreters can effectively improve their comprehension and efficiency of EST interpretation,and the triangular model of Interpretive Theory makes interpretation less difficult,more effective and easier to understand.And the author hopes that this thesis can provide some inspiration and help for the research and development of EST interpretation.
