Practical Exploration Of Group Work Intervention In Spiritual Comfort Of The Elderly With Chronic Diseases

As my country’s aging process accelerates,medical technology progress and family structure change in China,the number of elderly people suffering from chronic diseases increased gradually.It is no longer rare to provide for the aged with illness.The elderly with chronic diseases are a special part of vulnerable groups in the community.They suffer from one or more chronic diseases.They have a long time of illness and are difficult to cure.The long-term influence of the disease makes the spiritual comfort of this group increasingly prominent.Under the guidance of social support theory,social learning theory and cognitive behavior theory,this paper explores the path of social work intervention in the problem of mental comfort for the elderly with chronic diseases,in order to achieve the goal of effectively solving the problem of mental comfort for the elderly with chronic diseases.This paper mainly uses the methods of questionnaire,interview and observation to collect the basic information and needs of the elderly with chronic diseases in a community,analyze and evaluate the spiritual comfort needs of the elderly with chronic diseases.Based on the results of needs analysis,social workers made group plans,recruited and screened10 empty nesters with chronic diseases,carried out group activities,and evaluated the process and effect of group activities.In the form of group activities,social workers help team members correct their misconceptions and face life positively,establish new emotional relationships and interpersonal communication,enrich their cultural and entertainment life,and finally achieve the goal of meeting their spiritual comfort needs.Based on the feedback of group assessment,social workers found that the psychological comfort effect of group work in the elderly with chronic disease was significant,and the needs of the group members for psychological comfort,spirit,interpersonal communication and cultural entertainment were met to varying degrees.However,there are still some limitations,such as small coverage of group services;Neglect the participation of family members of the elderly with chronic diseases;Narrow range of group services.The professional identity of social work is low,and these limitations affect the intervention effect of group work to a certain extent.On the basis of referring to the literature on the spiritual comfort of the elderly and the elderly with chronic diseases in the field of social work,this paper organized and carried out the group practice of spiritual comfort for the elderly with chronic diseases.This paper not only enriches the research of social work intervention in the spiritual comfort of the elderly with chronic diseases,but also provides practical experience for the future social work intervention in this field.
