Graduates Employment Analysis In Search-Matching Perspective

College Students’ employment related to millions of households,it has also been highly concerned by the state and the society.After university enrollment,especially since the 2008 financial crisis,the problem of students’ employment is getting worse.So it is very meaningful and important to find out the factors that effecting college students’ employment and put forward some effective suggestions to improve the efficiency and quality of students’ employment.Search-matching theory is the mainstream of the labor market research tools,it considering the labor demand and supplement,and included the mechanism for wage determination under the conditions that the information of the labor market is not sufficient.The Search-matching theory provided a good explanation for the unemployment,so I will use the search-matching model to study employment of college students.Huazhong University of Science and Technology is known as "the epitome of Chinese higher education," the school has wide range of disciplines,and has a large number of graduates each year,so in this paper,I will take HUST as an example to analyze the students’ employment.The first chapter mainly reviews the literature on college students’ employment and search-matching theory.The second chapter analyzes the current situation of the college students’ labor market,and using the search-matching theory to find some explanations.The third chapter takes Huazhong University of Science and Technology as a case to detailed analyze the graduates’ employment process and the employment status of different kinds of graduates,found that firms and students have asymmetric information,waste of resources exists in multiple aspects of the employment process,the employment situation of different types of college students vary widely,there are multiple segmentation in students’ labor market.Sex,residence,professional disciplines,intern experience etc.,have significant effects on the employment of university students,the most influential factor is discipline.The fourth chapter,some suggestions are proposed for the government,firms,universities and college students.The fifth chapter,I summarized the article,sort out deficiencies in the study,and raised some improvement for the study in the future.
