A Case Study Of Rational Emotional Therapy Model Involving The Excessive Drinking Problem Of Widowed Elderly In Wuhan

Since China entered the aging society in 1999,the elderly population has been increasing,showing the trend of aging and aging.At present,our country is in the critical period of social transformation,and the development of the city has given birth to a new group of people who need social attention-the elderly widowed in the city.These widowed old people living in the city have met the most basic needs of "food,clothing and warmth".However,from the perspective of Maslow’s demand level,the urban widowed old people themselves have different characteristics from the rural widowed old people,which is based on their higher needs of "food,clothing and warmth",such as respect,love and self realization can not be effectively met 。For these special groups,we should not only keep them "full and warm",but also explore the higher quality activities,including spiritual consolation and irrational emotional behavior correction,when their basic life needs are met.With the help of the project of "building a livable community for the elderly" in X community,the author visited the elderly in the city to provide care for their lives.During the door-to-door visit,I learned about the basic situation of the old man l,and selected the old man l from X community as the case study subject.This is the old man I met in the process of social work professional practice.During the process of communication and contact with him,the author found that there are many irrational emotions in the case subject,and his attitude towards life has been pessimistic and pessimistic Negative.Due to the fact that old man l is a widowed old man in the city and lack of care and restriction in his life,he often drinks alcohol every day,from drunk in the morning to drunk in the evening,and then drinks after waking up.According to the investigation and visit to the neighborhood and the community,it is found that the irrational emotional behavior and alcohol problem of old man l have seriously affected the daily life of the old man.Children,neighbors and other communities also hope that elderly l can change in a positive direction.In the prediction stage,based on the understanding of the early stage of the elderly,we will collect more in-depth data,collect the current resource support provided by the family support system and community support system of the case owner,understand the current problems of the case owner,the causes of the problems,the impact of the problems on the existence of the elderly and the current needs,and form a more in-depth cognition.In the planning stage of service,long-term and short-term goals are set for the elderly.The long-term goal is to refute the cognition of the subject’s "non black and white",extreme and mean irrational emotions,and form an optimistic and positive old age state.The short-term goal is to guide the subject to participate in the service activities,gradually understand his existing concept,and realize the negative impact of this concept on himself At the same time,moderate drinking,"drinking but not drinking" should be used to correct the previous drinkingbehavior from day to night and the consequent discord between parents,children and neighbors.As a professional social worker,the author is also a provider of professional services.Through seven visits and four service activities,including the cognition and refutation of irrational emotions,the cognition and improvement of alcohol problems,the reconstruction of parent-child relationship,and the active participation in community life,etc.,and after each activity,the use of quality assessment and quantity assessment to measure the service object,the elderly L,found that their irrational emotional cognition gradually decreased,which can come from the other side of the problem Looking at the problem,rather than being stubborn in his own inner world,and rejecting the society;the drinking problem of old man l has been improved,especially after his own positive change,social workers pulled into the distance between the case owner,his daughter and the community,which made old man l feel the warmth and love of long lost.This also makes the case owner more willing to move forward in a good direction,thus forming a virtuous circle.In the closing stage,the case owner,with the introduction and guidance of social workers,can take the initiative to participate in voluntary service activities in the community,winning the trust of the community and neighbors,which is also in sharp contrast to the fact that the case owner,as a city widowed old man,closed his house and drank alcohol at home all day long,which shows that the service goal set for the case owner has been basically achieved,which is for the old man L The service activities provided are valid.
