In the procsee of the development of modern normal education in China,"Discipline" has become a history,it used to be an important means of moral education and has exerted a certain impact on normal university students,normal schools and even modern Chinese education.Through the study of the discipline of normal schools in the Republic of China.On the one hand,it helps to have a deep understanding of the educational philosophy,educational methods and educational models behind the discipline,and enriches the content of the discipline research in the Republic of China.On the other hand,it provides some reference for the current normal university students to carry out teacher ethics education.This study first elaborates the historical background of the discipline in normal schools during the Republic of China,and clarifies the development and evolution of discipline with the passage of time,with the help of the special era background at that time,this study analyzes the special mission of discipline in normal schools;combined with the government issued numerous policy documents at that time to glimpse the epitome of the development of discipline.Secondly,this study sorts out the discipline system of the Republic of China and the important measures to implement discipline.Discipline system includes discipline objectives,discipline principles,discipline institutions and discipline methods,the important measures included the tutorial system,student autonomous association and military training,they all in order to realize the depth of the normal school discipline during the Republic of China.This study selects two normal schools which have achieved obvious results in discipline practice,and summarizes the characteristics of discipline practice in normal schools during the Republic of China as follows:attaching importance to personality cultivation,strengthening physical exercise and attaching importance to social practice.Finally,combining the discipline system and the practice of discipline in normal schools,this study summarizes the effectiveness and limitations of the implementation of normal school discipline during the Republic of China,which has achieved the purpose of taking history as a mirror:stimulate the sense of social responsibility of normal university students and practice the concept of education serving the society;adher to the education idea of the unity of knowledge and practice,strengthen the teachers’ ethics of normal university students;integrate various educational methods to promote the all-round development of normal university students;respect the initiative and creativity of students and cultivate the ability of autonomy management of normal university students.
