| Number sense is a perception of numbers and their relationships, and the perception of flexible use of relevant knowledge generated on this basis. The development of number sense has an important and far-reaching impact on young children.5-6 years old is the first accelerated period of brain development, and it is also a critical period for number sense enlightenment.Picture book reading is the earliest reading and enlightenment education in one’s life, and it is also a major driving force to promote children’s active learning. This research is based on the picture book to carry out the number sense teaching activities for the children in senior kindergarten,in order to promote the development of the number sense of the children in the class, improve the children’s mathematical literacy, and guide and deepen the sustainable development of the kindergarten mathematics teaching. This study uses methods including interview and survey to analyze the present condition of the teachers and children in the senior class of S kindergarten, and uses the action research method to carry out practical teaching activities based on picture books in the six dimensions of number sense. In order to reduce the effect due to the change of teaching strategies in the same number sense dimension, each action cycle follows the process of plan-action-reflection-re-planning-re-action-re-reflection during which researchers observe their actions, and rethink and improve teaching strategies. After cycles of actions over a period of three months, the effects are analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The practical results are: improving children’s ability of number sense;enhancing children’s interest in mathematics;enhancing the teachers’ awareness of the importance of number sense;and gaining the recognition of their parents. The conclusion of this study is that: picture books are an effective carrier for number sense teaching;number sense teaching based on picture books can promote the development of children’s number sense;summarizing practical strategies in three aspects: picture book selection, teaching design, and teaching implementation.Suggestions: paying attention to the value of picture books in number sense teaching, developing number sense courses;organizing number sense teaching and researching activities to improve teachers’ professional skills;teaching in a timely manner and integrating number sense activities into children’s day-to-day lives;cooperating with parents to form a joint effort in education. |
