Strategies For Social Work To Promote Neighborhood Participation In Child Protection In Distress

With the introduction of the new uninsured law,the system of child protection in distress is becoming more and more perfect.Communities play an integral role in this protection system,including needs discovery,life care,emotional support,and more.However,with the rapid changes in society and the increasing pace of life,the role of the community has been greatly affected.The social interaction between the neighbors in the urban community is constantly indifferent because of the change of the community and the change of the living pattern,and the spirit of watching and helping among the neighbors is gradually diminishing with the social change.According to the China Child Development Programme(2011-2020),an important measure for child protection is the establishment of community-based child care and protection mechanisms.As an important part of the community,the role of neighborhood in child protection should be paid full attention to and excavated.Therefore,this paper focuses on social workers to promote neighborhood participation in the protection of children in difficult circumstances is of great significance.Based on the theory of social capital and social support,this paper studies the strategy of social workers to promote neighborhood participation in the protection of children in difficult circumstances.Taking neighborhood participation in the C social work service project in W City as an example,qualitative research methods are used to collect data through interview method and text analysis.The study found that neighborhood support plays a role in the protection of children in distress in urban communities,but that neighborhoods still have problems in participating in the process of child protection in distress:insensitivity to the needs of children,weak willingness to participate,and inadequate interaction with the object of protection.In response to these problems,social workers use case services to enhance the willingness of residents to participate,use group services to develop residents’ ability to participate,use community services to build platforms,use professional advantages,link service resources.And in the process of professional services,the use of "social workers and communities" and "social workers and volunteers" approach,to help neighbors to participate in the protection of children in need,and achieved some results.Key results include improved quality child protection services in distress,increased willingness of neighbours to participate in child protection,and increased neighborhood relationships and trust.Finally,the countermeasures to further deepen the protection of children in difficult situations in the neighborhood are put forward:respect for the will to participate,improve the incentive mechanism,enhance publicity and improve the quality of service.The paper holds that the key point to promote neighborhood participation in child protection is to stimulate the willingness of residents to participate and consolidate the supportive relationship between neighbors.This has accumulated practical experience for the protection of children in difficult circumstances,and has also enriched the research on the participation of neighbors in the protection of children in difficult circumstances.
