| China’s birth policy change from the selective two-child policy to the universal twochild policy is to promote the balanced development of the population;however,dual-income families often struggle to balance work and parenting,and the financial pressure to raise children is increasing,leading to the inactive fertility desire of the families.Therefore,concentrating social resources to develop inclusive,professional,scientific,and high-quality community childcare services can effectively alleviate this situation.Against the background,this paper ventures to probe the demands of parents of infants and/or toddlers aged 0-3 years for community childcare services,so as to deeply understand parents’ demands and put forward feasible suggestions for the improvement of community childcare services,contributing to providing community childcare services according to parents’ specific needs.By consulting the relevant literature and policy,and combing with the interview results,the author compiled and analyzed the initial questionnaire,and then completed and issued a formal questionnaire.After the data collection of the formal questionnaire in A City,Hebei Province,this paper used SPSS 24.0 for data analysis,so as to explore the current situation and differences of the parents’ demands for community childcare services for their infants and toddlers aged 0-3 years in A City,Hebei Province.The major findings of this paper are as below.First,parents had a strong demand for community-based child care services,while expressing a hard demand for the professionalism of teacher personnel and parenting content.Second,parents of infants and toddlers who had not experienced child care services had higher demand for child care services and teacher staff professionalism.Third,young parents were concerned about the professionalism of teachers,while grandparents were more concerned about the care of their infants and toddlers.Fourth,parents with college or bachelor’s degrees have higher demand for total community child care services and services in all dimensions.Fifth,parents who are engaged in professions such as teachers and doctors have higher demand for teachers’ professionalism and expectation to improve their own family education.Finally,this study makes relevant recommendations based on the survey results:supporting the construction of community child care services and increasing the number of community child care institutions;improving the professionalism of teacher personnel and reasonably arranging the content of parenting;paying attention to parents of infants and toddlers who have not chosen child care services and dispelling parents’ concerns;guiding parents to scientifically understand community child care institutions and to do a good job of working with the needs of young parents and grandparents;and respecting parents’ differences and effectively paying attention to the needs of parents with different education levels and professions. |
