| Social anxiety is a common psychological problem and distress in interpersonal communication among college students,which is an important issue of college mental health work.The negative effects of social anxiety will affect college students’ physiology and psychology,hindering their normal psychological and social functions.Existing research focuses on the external environmental factors that affect social anxiety,mainly in the real environment(family atmosphere,school experience,etc.),and there are few studies on the external environment of the network.With the development of network technology,social networking sites have become an indispensable part of daily interpersonal communication among college students.Therefore,this article focuses on the social networking site(SNS)and uses a questionnaire method to explore the relationship between the use of SNS and social anxiety,the mediating role of self-identity in this relationship,and the using motivation of SNS’s moderating effect.In this study,815 college students from 6 colleges and universities in Nanjing were surveyed using SNS usage intensity scale,communication anxiety scale,self-identity scale,and SNS’s using motivation scale.And 742 valid questionnaires were collected.Use SPSS 25.0 and Hayes’ process plug-ins for data analysis.After analysis,the following results were obtained:(1)The use of SNS is significantly positively correlated with social anxiety and significantly negatively correlated with self-identity level,and self-identity level is significantly negatively correlated with social anxiety;(2)The use of SNS can have a direct impact on college students’ social anxiety,or it can have an indirect impact on social anxiety through the mediating role of selfidentity;(3)The mediating role of self-identity is regulated by three using motivations of SNS: the companionship motivation,social interaction motivation,and information expression motivation.Specifically,the stronger those motivations for college students are,the greater the use of SNS impact self-identity. |
