A Case Study Involving Social Support For The Mental Comfort Of The Widowed And Lost Elderly

Due to the implementation of China’s family planning policy,China’s population size and structure problems can be effectively improved,alleviating the contradiction between population and resources imbalance in the process of economic and social development,but at the same time,it also brought a large number of one-child families.Correspondingly,along with the occurrence of various accidents,the number of lost only child groups also increased greatly.After the loss of their only child,they are unable to have children and adopt again for various reasons,and the problem of supporting their old age comes with them.With the acceleration of the aging process of China’s population,the number of widowed and bereaved elderly people,a special group,is gradually increasing.For the widowed and bereaved elderly people,in addition to the lack of care for their children,they also lose the emotional support from their spouse,and they become sensitive and fragile,inferiority and negative.The material shortage can be alleviated by the national policy,but the spiritual emptiness will eventually lead them to the "island",so their spiritual pension has become the focus of the whole society.Social support is an important resource for individuals to solve the crisis and maintain the normal operation of life.For the bereaved elderly,it is also an important channel and relationship network to obtain spiritual consolation.Lanzhou X of this research community,a widow lost old man alone on an intervention,using the case study method,the widowed lost alone the old man’s spiritual demand,degree of loneliness and social support condition analysis and evaluation,based on the theory of social support theory,USES the qualitative analysis is given priority to,the combination of qualitative analysis with quantitative analysis method,The path of social support for the bereaved elderly by case work was studied and discussed.Through case work,social workers provide individualized services for clients’ problems and needs,effectively help clients get rid of negative and sad emotions,restore self-confidence,increase social support,improve the utilization rate of surrounding support resources,and urge clients to face their future life with a more positive attitude.Through the evaluation,it is found that the whole case service has obvious effect on the social support of spiritual consolation for the bereaved elderly.The research finds that :(1)the social support network system of the bereaved elderly is weak,and the utilization rate of the surrounding social resources is low;(2)Increasing social support from the perspective of formal support and informal support plays a crucial role in spiritual consolation for the elderly who have lost their spouses and their only child;(3)Social workers can provide spiritual consolation to the elderly who have lost their spouse or their only child through the method of case work,which can relieve their negative emotions,correct wrong ideas,restore their confidence in life and actively face life;(4)Social workers actively promote the community integration of the elderly,improve their social skills,can help the elderly to rebuild the social support network,so as to increase social support to cope with various difficulties in life.
