Non-suicidal self-injury(NSSI)is a kind of behavior that directly and deliberately destroys one’s own body organization and is not recognized by the society without suicidal intention.NSSI is harmful to students’ physical and mental development. The study found that early and middle adolescence(15-17 years old)is the peak period of NSSI behavior development.Adolescent children’s physiological development changes dramatically and their psychological development lags behind, which will inevitably lead to their physical and mental instability at a certain stage;rural boarding junior high school students, for the first time, leave their families to live in the school collective, they are facing many pressures, such as self-care,academic pressure, interpersonal communication, emotional management, and many other stressful events plus sensitivity.Sensory and unstable state of mind and body will inevitably bring greater challenges to their emotional regulation and problem solving.NSSI,as an emotional regulation, causes obstacles to problem solving, which is one of the reasons for its high incidence in adolescence.Previous studies have explained the correlation between negative life events and NSSI behavior, but the linear relationship between them deserves further discussion.Ruminant thinking is often used as a mediator between negative life events and problem behaviors such as aggression, suicide ideation or various negative emotions such as anxiety and depression in previous studies, and existing studies have proved that ruminant thinking is significantly positively correlated with the above problem behaviors or negative emotions.Based on this idea, this paper explores the influence mechanism of negative life events on non-suicidal self-injury behavior(NSSI)of rural junior middle school students.According to the Stress Buffer Hypothesis, students’ social support is likely to regulate the relationship between negative life events and NSSI.Accordingly, this study takes rural boarding junior high school students as the research object, and investigates the relationship between negative life events, ruminant thinking,non-suicidal self-injury behavior and social support of rural middle school students. On the basis of explaining the concepts, measurements and relationships of negative life events, ruminant thinking,non-suicidal self-injurious behavior and social support, this study selected 504 students from two rural junior middle schools as subjects, and conducted the Youth Self-Assessment Life Events Scale,Ruminant Thinking Scale and Non-suicidal Self-injury Scale.Injury Behavior Scale and Social Support Scale.Statistical results show that: 1.The detection rate of NSSI behavior of rural boarding junior high school students is relatively high, exceeding 45%.There is no gender and grade difference in NSSI behavior of boarding rural junior middle school students;the subjects who implement NSSI behavior are more likely to engage in non-obvious organizational damage behavior, and there is no significant gender difference in organizational damage, girls score higher than boys.2.Negative life events are positively correlated with ruminant thinking and NSSI.Negative life events can positively predict ruminant thinking and the occurrence of NSSI.Social support negatively predicts the occurrence of NSSI,and there is a significant negative correlation between social support and negative life events, ruminant thinking and NSSI.3.Negative life events not only directly affect NSSI behavior, but also affect NSSI through ruminant thinking, that is,ruminant thinking plays a mediating role between negative life events and NSSI.4.Social support can regulate the impact of negative life events on NSSI.With low social support, more negative life events will significantly increase the incidence of NSSI.Compared with high social support, low social support, negative life events have a greater positive predictive effect on NSSI.However, social support did not regulate ruminant thinking in the second half of the mediation model between negative life events and NSSI.
