The Study Of Associations Between Physical Activity,Screen Time And Anxiety,Sleep Quality Among Chinese College Students | | Posted on:2021-07-13 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:M Ye | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2507306503480074 | Subject:Sports | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | Objective: To examine the associations among physical activity and screen time with anxiety and sleep quality,after controlling for potential confounding factors.Method: The sample population was taken from three Chinese universities and consisted of 5280 freshmen and sophomores.Sociodemographic characteristics and lifestyle behaviors such as physical activity,screen time,anxiety and sleep quality were assessed by questionnaires.Participants were divided into two groups according to the guidelines of physical activity and screen times separately.Result: There are 4964 samples for final analysis,about 9.7% of students had anxiety(8.7% for boys and 11.4% for girls)and the prevalence of poor sleep quality was 55.0%(51.8% for boys and 60.4% for girls).The combination of physical inactivity and high screen time was positively associated with high levels of anxiety and poor sleep quality.Furthermore,boys with both physical inactivity and high screen time behaviors tended to have significant higher odds of reporting high levels of anxiety and poor sleep quality than boys with only one behavior or neither of them,even after adjusting for age,BMI,tobacco use,alcohol use,sleep quality or anxiety.Conclusion: The combination of low physical activity levels and high screen time levels is associated with increased prevalence of anxiety and poor sleep quality among male college students.There is a need for longitudinal research to establish the directionality of the relationships observed. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | college students, physical activity, screen time, anxiety, sleep quality | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
