Foreign direct investment has always played an important role in our country’s development process, and has also be extremely significant in my country’s market competition pattern, industrial structure and economic growth. It has a profound impact on the local employment level, and it will inevitably affect the income distribution of labors of different genders.Gender economic equality will improve people’s happiness and promote national economic development. It can be a necessary foundation for peace, prosperity and sustainable development. At present, there are not many documents examining the relationship between foreign direct investment and gender wage gap,and no unified conclusion has been reached. Therefore, the samples of 2013,2015,and 2017 in the data of the China Household Finance Survey and Research Center(CHFS)Analysis and empirical examination of the impact of foreign direct investment on the gender wage gap,in order to help my country’s future investment policy formulation, increase women’s economic participation, and strengthen women’s economic independence. The study found that foreign direct investment has a positive impact on both men’s and women’s wages, and in general, foreign direct investment has widened the gender wage gap.Based on these, the samples are grouped according to different skill levels, different regions, and different types of enterprises to analyze the impact of FDI on gender wage gaps under different conditions. The results all indicate that foreign direct investment has widened the gender wage gap.Firstly,FDI has expanded the gender income gap of low-skilled labor more significantly.Secondly,FDI has widened the gender wage gap in different regions, and has a more significant effect on the expansion of the gender income gap in the eastern region.Thirdly,in non-foreign-funded enterprises,FDI has expanded the gender income gap more significantly, indicating that FDI has had a greater impact on other local enterprises through the indirect effects of knowledge and technology spillovers. On this basis, from the perspective of the government and individuals, there are some specific suggestions provided for FDI to play a better role. The government should conduct stricter checks and screenings on foreign-funded enterprises that enter, and appropriately increase the service industry with female skills.Access to enterprises;the government improves women’s education level and strives for higher bargaining power in the labor market;relevant departments promote legislation to supervise labor market fairness and control corporate gender discrimination.
