With the deepening of Reform and Opening-up,the labor force’s demand for economic development is increasing.Many rural surplus labor forces,especially the young and middle-aged labor force,flow into the city,leaving their children and the elderly at home and becoming "left-behind families." Children become "left-behind children." These children do not live with their parents for a long time and lack care,guidance,and education from their parents.The problem of children is becoming a severe social problem.According to the Civil Affairs Department’s statistics:in 2018,the number of left-behind children in China reached 6.97 million,and most of the left-behind children in rural areas have problems such as poor communication or alienated relationship with their parents.The quality of parent-child communication of left-behind children has affected family harmony and social stability.How to improve the ability of parent-child communication of left-behind children in rural areas has become an urgent practical problem to be solved.In this study,E village left-behind children in eastern Guizhou Province as the primary survey and service objects,based on the group dynamics theory,cognitive behavior,advantage perspective theory,using questionnaire survey,group interview,participatory observation,and other research methods to obtain first-hand information,through the communication initiative,parents go home frequency,parent-child contact frequency,communication clarity,communication efficiency.This paper explores the status quo of parent-child communication between left-behind children and their parents in E village from five dimensions,analyzes the status quo of their communication ability and existing problems,and explores the subjective and objective factors influencing the communication between left-behind children and their parents.The investigation found that the problems of parent-child communication of left-behind children in E village are as follows: weak awareness of active communication,low communication frequency,short communication time,and lack of communication content.The influencing factors mainly include family education,parent-child communication skills,children’s emotional control,children’s expression ability,and other subjective reasons,as well as economic conditions,social concerns,school concerns,and other external reasons.Therefore,based on fully understanding the problems and needs of parent-child communication of left-behind children in E village,the author carries out social work professional services,and from the perspective of group dynamics theory and advantages,explores the methods and ways of social work to improve the parent-child communication ability of left-behind children in E village,so as to help left-behind children and their parents better improve their parent-child communication skills and ability,and enhance the mutual understanding between parents and children Understanding and improving parent-child communication.Moreover,from the experimental process of summing up the relevant experience and shortcomings,to provide some reference for the research of social work intervention in parent-child communication of left-behind children.
