With the deepening of reform and opening up,more and more rural surplus labor choose to seek development in the city,left-behind children have become a unique social phenomenon in the process of urbanization in China.The rural left-behind children are separated from their parents for a long time,which makes the rural left-behind children lack effective guardianship and family companionship,and the parent-child communication and interaction are seriously lacking.Focusing on the left-behind children in schools in a rural area of Gansu Province,this paper conducted an investigation and study on the status quo of parent-child communication among their families.It was found that the parent-child communication among rural left-behind children presented a single communication method,simple communication content,low communication frequency and short time,and low level of mutual understanding between parents and children.The main reasons are as follows: subjectively,left-behind children have weak awareness of active communication,irrational emotions and lack of sense of security towards their parents' work behavior;Objectively,the long time separation between parents and children,the lack of communication skills between parents and children,and the school and society pay insufficient attention to the parent-child communication of left-behind children.Under the guidance of family system theory and communication theory,this paper adopts case work method to try to relieve the left-behind children's irrational emotions towards their parents' work behavior and improve their parent-child communication ability.Through six stages of case work practice intervention,it is found that the expression and listening ability of the client and his parents are improved,and the parent-child relationship is also eased,which indicates that the case work is effective in improving the parent-child communication ability.
