Geography is very comprehensive and regional,and regional cognition,as one of the four core qualities,is also clearly proposed in the Curriculum Standards for Geography in General High Schools(2017Edition).Therefore,how to cultivate high school students’ regional cognitive literacy is a hot topic in the current high school geography teaching circle.With the changes and development of the times,the role of science and technology assisting geography teaching is more and more significant.In this paper,questionnaire survey and interview method are adopted to investigate the current situation of using Google Earth in geography teaching.By analyze the problems and summarize reasons,put forward the strategies of using Google Earth to cultivate the regional cognitive literacy of high school students.And design a geography teaching case based on Google Earth.The research conclusions are as follows:(1)Through questionnaire survey and interview analysis,it is found that the regional cognitive literacy of high school students needs to be improved.The main problems are as follows: backward teaching facilities in schools;Google Earth is not widely used in geography teaching;teachers are not familiar with the operation of Google Earth.The main reasons are as follows: school education is controlled by scores;teachers’ awareness of using information technology is not strong;intense teaching hours and heavy teaching tasks;differences in teaching resource allocation;Google Earth’s restriction and so on.(2)Based on Google Earth,the strategies of how to cultivate regional cognitive literacy of high school students are mainly carried out from four aspects: school,geography teacher,student and the operation of Google Earth.First of all,schools shouldi support information-based teaching;perfect teaching conditions and configure multimedia equipments;develop professional skills training courses for geography teachers.Secondly,geography teachers should update their teaching ideas and enhance their awareness of informationized teaching;keep up with the development of the times,improve their own professional software operation ability;integrate Google Earth with teaching content based on curriculum standards;study hard to dig out the functions in Google Earth that are suitable for cultivating students’ regional cognitive literacy;for Google Earth,teachers should select simple operations for teaching and find the alternative software.Thirdly,students should use a variety of geographic information software to cultivate their interest in learning;actively cooperate with teachers to develop their regional cognitive literacy.Finally,for Google Earth,the function of digital Earth should be used to assist students to construct a mental map,comprehensive geographic data should be used to help students master regional characteristics,regional data images should be used to help students to compare regions.(3)Using Google Earth’s functions,like positioning,satellite images and historical images,to show the region’s position,satellite images and changes.Apply Google Earth in to geography teaching and design the "adjust measures to local conditions and regional development" teaching case.Through teaching practice find that Google Earth is helpful in cultivating high school students’ literacy of regional cognition.
