| The in-depth development of the economy and the improvement of the level of urbanization have accelerated the flow of population between urban and rural areas and between regions. However, with the increase in the size of the floating population, the number of children affected by population migration is still huge.Among them, the number of left-behind children occupies the main part.At present, there have been many studies on the analysis of left-behind children. Most researchers have paid attention to the impact of parents’ migrant work on the education of left-behind children. However, existing studies mainly focused on analyzing the current impact of parents’ migrant work on the education of their left-behind children.Fewer researchers have paid attention to the long-term impact of parents’ migrant work activities on the education of their left-behind children. Therefore, this thesis is based on micro-survey data and combined with existing literature to establish a quantitative analysis model to empirically analyze the long-term impact of parents’ migrant working experience on their children’s educational development. The analysis results of this article show that, first of all, parents with migrant working experience will significantly reduce the probability of improvement in academic performance of children aged 6-15,and will have a greater impact on boys’ performance and on children’s performance in elementary school. The analysis of the mechanism further shows that the impact of parents’ experience of working outside on the improvement of their children’s performance is mainly through parents’ expectations of their children’s education, their children’s expectations of their own education, parents’ supervision of their children’s behavior, and parents’ attention to their children’s education. As well as parents’ investment in their children’s education.Second, the parents’ experience of working outside will significantly reduce the education level of their children who have entered into the labor market, and it has been found that the negative impact on children’s access to higher education opportunities at college and above is greater;after distinguishing the birth stage of children who have entered into the labor market, the analysis finds that parents with migrant working experience mainly has a significant adverse effect on the education level of children born in 1990 and later. Finally, the parents’ migrant working experience and their children’s own education level will affect their children’s employment opportunities. Therefore, according to the research conclusions of this article. This article believes that in order to reduce the long-term adverse effects of parents’ migrant working experience on their children’s educational development,we should proceed from the following aspects. One is to reduce the phenomenon of children staying behind. It is necessary to further advance the reform of the urban household registration system, strengthen the construction of basic public service facilities in the city, and ensure fair education opportunities for children of migrants who migrate with them.It is also necessary to vigorously promote the improvement of economic development in backward areas and ensure that migrants obtain employment opportunities in their household registration areas. The second is to strengthen the protection of left-behind children.Led by schools,it focuses on strengthening the care and protection of leftbehind children in schools, and calls on social group organizations and social workers to join the care and protection team for left-behind children. The third is to strengthen family guardianship responsibilities.Parents should communicate with their children frequently, contact with schools and teachers, and attach importance to the educational development of their children. |
