The preschool stage is a critical period for children’s cognitive enlightenment.Enlightening children’s minds during this period can help children understand their own feelings,perceive various things in life,feel the laws of language expression,understand specific physical concepts,and learn preliminary judgment and reasoning methods.visualization is the remarkable characteristics of picture books.Picture books meet children’s aesthetic needs and cognitive styles.Therefore,this study attempts to take the picture books loved by preschool teachers and children as the carrier to inspire children’s mind development,to explore the feasibility and effective application strategies of promoting children’s mind development with picture book teaching,and to provide a reference basis and practical reference for preschool teachers to carry out educational activities of promoting children’s mind development with picture book teaching.This paper adopts action research which is one of qualitative research method.Selects a small class of X Kindergarten in Gui Yang Huaxi District,as the research object.Comprehensively use method of observation,interview,questionnaire,etc.Based on Cai Shushan’s five-level theory of human cognition,and Gardner’s multivariate theory of intelligence,combined with the age development characteristics of children in small classes.Slect nine picture books relate to psychological cognition,language cognition,and thinking cognition,to design activity plans and implement corresponding educational activities to carry out four-month actions aimed at promoting the children’s mind development through the teaching of picture books.Through three large cycles and nine small cycles,the spiral development action research process of investigation-plan-action-reflection-replan-reaction-rereflection is investigated,to research picture book teaching promoting children’s mental development.The results shows that picture book teaching is an important way to promote children’s mind development,which can help children build positive psychological cognition,provide syntactic,semantic,and pragmatic paradigms for language cognition,and can also help children carry out thinking and cognitive training.Effective use of picture book teaching to promote children’s mind development should pay attention to the selection of picture books,and also need to highlight the design of picture book teaching and the implementation of picture book teaching.In the selection of picture books,it is necessary to conform to the correct connotations of the three cognitive levels,to meet the characteristics of children’s cognitive development,and to meet the requirements and standards of high-quality picture books.In the design of picture book teaching activities,the following three points must be achieved: First,the content of picture books is simplified according to the connotation of three cognitive levels.The second is to expand the content of picture books according to teaching needs.Third,design picture book teaching activities based on the principle of step-by-step.In the implementation of picture book teaching activities,the first is that the forms of introduction process should be diversified;the second is that the questioning process should be more open to meet the children’s desire to fully think and express;the third is that the mind map can be properly used in the process of activities to help children sort out the main contents of picture books;the fourth is that the extension process of activities can make rational use of the corners to consolidate and expand the contents of picture books.Based on the research conclusions,this paper puts forward the following relevant suggestions: First,in kindergartens,should make self-made picture books which can help children’s mind development and exhibit local advantages,should pay attention to the value of picture books in children’s mind and cognitive development,and should provide some theoretical and technical support for preschool teachers,and also need pay attention to the guiding role of children’s parents and show the advantages of home cooperation.Secondly,in terms of teachers,should change the concept of children’s mind development,expand the dimensions of children’s cognitive development,and correctly select and implement picture books,strengthen the teaching and research activities of kindergartens to promote children’s mind development through picture book teaching.Finally,in the aspect of activity design,it should be integrated into the five fields and diversifies the activity design;adopts a variety of ways to carry out educational activities that help children’s mind development;combines environmental education to promote children’s mind development.
