At present, the teaching mode of public physical education in colleges and universities in my country is basically based on traditional teaching methods. It does not meet the quality requirements of "people-oriented" at some levels, and cannot fully meet the training of students’ quality in our country. This study applies the 5E teaching model to the basketball teaching of public physical education in colleges and universities. The main purpose is to test the actual effect of this model in teaching through teaching experiments.Committed to improving the quality of classrooms, enriching the practical classroom teaching methods in college basketball classes, and providing practical help for the field of basketball education in my country. The experimental method is mainly used, and through the method of literature data, questionnaire survey, interview method, and mathematical statistics method, the students of Huaibei Normal University’s public physical education are the teaching objects, and an experimental group(implementing the 5E teaching mode)and a control group(using the 5E teaching mode)are set up.Traditional teaching mode),through a 32-hour teaching experiment,a comparative study of physical fitness, basketball skills, learning motivation, attitude, and interest before and after the experiment was conducted. The results show:(1)The comparison of physical fitness between groups after the experiment showed that: the results of the squat test in the experimental group changed significantly, and the results of the other three tests did not change much; There are about 2.8 more, and the reentry running is about 0.06 seconds faster on average, and the other two have no significant changes;there is no significant difference between the control group before and after the experiment. The reason is that the basketball course is mainly based on technology, and the improvement of physical fitness is relatively slow, and the changes in some items of the experimental group are due to the uniqueness of the teaching link.(2)After the experiment, the comparison of learning motivation, attitude and interest indicators between groups showed that the results of the students’ learning attitude test changed little. The experimental group was about 3.6 points ahead in the learning motivation test, and about 5.7 points in the learning interest test;the experimental group The scores of the three items after the experiment were higher than those before the experiment;the learning interest test scores of the control group after the experiment were 0.4 points lower than those before the experiment, while the other two scores were significantly higher after the experiment than before the experiment. The 5E teaching mode is better than the traditional teaching mode in improving students’ learning motivation, attitude and interest.(3)The comparison between technical groups after the experiment showed that the average number of shots in the experimental group was 0.21 more than that in the control group, with a smaller lead, while the other three were ahead of the control group;the experimental group passed the teaching experiment, and the overall technical performance was are much higher than before the experiment;the average layup time of the control group was about 2.9 seconds faster than that before the experiment, and the shooting skill evaluation was 1.4 points higher than the pre-test.There are significant differences between the two before and after comparisons. Therefore, the 5E teaching mode is better than the traditional teaching mode in the improvement of basketball skills, and the changes of students with lower levels are more obvious.
