With the increase of academic tasks, junior high school students’ perception of stress also increases. The increase in the level of stress perception will lead to negative emotions such as depression, anxiety, and irritability of students, which will affect their physical and mental development. In order to understand the current situation of stress perception among junior high school students, and to clarify the mechanism of passive social networking site use on junior high school students’ stress perception,a moderated mediation model was constructed, focusing on the mediating role of upward social comparison in the relationship between the two and the expected regulating effect. From the perspective of passive social networking site use, combined with upward social comparison and hope, this study explores the mechanism of passive social networking site use on stress perception,in order to put forward effective suggestions for reducing stress perception in junior high school students from a new perspective. The research adopts the "Passive Social Networking Website Use Scale","Upward Social Comparison Scale","Chinese Perceived Stress Scale" and "Children’s Hope Scale",and selects them by random sampling method in the form of questionnaire survey.633 junior high school students from two middle schools in Heilongjiang Province and Hunan Province were the subjects, and SPSS22.0 was used for data analysis.Research shows:(1)The use of passive social networking sites among junior high school students is generally at a moderately low level, and there are significant differences in some demographic variables in the use of passive social networking sites.(2)The overall pressure perception of junior high school students is at a moderate level, and there are significant differences in some demographic variables.(3)There is a significant positive correlation between the use of passive social networking sites and the stress perception of junior high school students, and there is a significant positive correlation with the upward social comparison;the upward social comparison has a significant positive correlation with the pressure perception..(4)Upward social comparison plays a partial mediating effect between passive social networking site use and junior high school students’ stress perception;it is hoped that the first half of the mediation model that passive social networking site use affects junior high school students’ stress perception through upward social comparison plays a moderating role. The research results show that reducing passive social networking site use behavior and upward social comparison level can help reduce junior high school students’ perception of stress, and increasing the level of hope can help junior high school students with high passive social networking site use frequency to reduce upward social comparison behavior.
