In China, the practice of shared housing is in its infancy, and intergenerational mutual aid is a new term, with large gaps in related research in the country.Along with the intensification of social aging, the change of intergenerational relationship and the transformation of family structure, the mainstream collective housing has become increasingly difficult to meet the diverse living needs of people.People are beginning to think about "space sharing" as a means to care for the elderly and attract young people to return, thus enhancing urban vitality and alleviating social conflicts. In this context, the author proposes the concept of "intergenerational mutual aid +shared housing" to give full play to the excellent complementarity between the two and provide a new way of thinking to solve social problems such as aging and housing difficulties. From this combination, the thesis explores what kind of living space is needed to correspond to the intergenerational mutual aid model based on sorting out the characteristics of shared residential space.Through a comparative analysis of the social, political and cultural aspects of Chinese and Western countries, the study summarizes the modularity and flexibility, the hierarchy of spatial privacy, the "compression" of functional space and the collaboration of life and other components adapted to the Chinese context.Design principles such as industrialized prefabricated modules, multifunctional composite spaces that promote spatial sharing, hierarchical sharing, spatial clusters that satisfy collaborative living, and multivalent spaces that activate interaction behavior are proposed.Based on the aforementioned research, the thesis chooses to summarize the frontier design strategies of shared housing in line with the characteristics of intergenerational mutual assistance, taking into account the basic national conditions of stock development in China, starting from the renovation of old houses, and using a typological approach to graphically express the spatial composition. In terms of function, area and level,it shows modular and diversified combination methods, and finally builds a model of intergenerational mutual assistance type shared housing architecture, filling the gap of related research in China.
