Mongolian traditional nomadic life style of "living by water and grass" has influenced the formation of its ethnic culture.Nadam is a Mongolian language, also known as "Nair",which means "game, entertainment".Nadam originated in the early days of the Mongol khanate, when the herdsmen grazing, lush water and grass, cattle fat season held nadam,so every year in the sixth lunar month began on the fourth day,Gregorian calendar held in July or August, for five days, the history of half a year,a year or three years held once.Generally speaking, the nadam first to carry out aobao sacrifice, recitation of eulogy, hada, the main activities are wrestling, archery and horse racing,as well as singing and dancing performances, trade and other activities.Nadam held the time is the most suitable season for people activities on the grassland, the venue is located in the bonus green grass, flat grassland, then scattered herdsmen get together, from the daily scattered flow into a brief gathering exchange.Nadam is not only a sporting event, but also a commodity trade conference,a platform for information exchange, and a ceremony of identity. On May 20,2006,nadam was approved by the state council to be included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list. This study analyzes and interprets the activities of nadam from the perspective of ritual communication.According to the scholar Rothenbuhler, all ceremonies in the society are a state of communication.According to the communication scholar Carrey, communication can be divided into transmission view of communication and ritual view of communication.According to the communication scholar katz, there are media events such as competition, conquest and coronation.Ritual communication can be generally divided into two categories:one is the ceremony with the nature of dissemination, that is,the ceremony as a dissemination phenomenon, and the other is the dissemination as a ritual phenomenon.Since nadam itself is a ritual with competitive color, this study mainly adopts the ritual which regards nadam as a spreading phenomenon to research. The specific structure of this study is as follows. The introduction part expounds the research significance of this topic, literature review, research methods, etc. The author personally participated in the 28th nadam tourism conference held in August 2018 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, and conducted interviews with 15 nadam organizers and participants. The first chapter gives an overview of nadam, mainly explaining the origin, changes and activities of nadam. The second chapter expounds the performance of nadam ritual communication, which is mainly interpreted from four aspects:visual symbols, auditory symbols, ritual procedure blessing and the construction of official and civilian cooperation. These manifestations are the internal structure of the nadam ritual transmission, both substantial and institutional. The third chapter expounds the function of nadam ritual communication, and introduces it from the three dimensions of identification, cohesion in participation and inheritance in protection. This function is actually a comprehensive dialectical process, and there is unity in competition. The fourth chapter puts forward some strategic innovative ideas aiming at the challenge of the current nadam ritual communication. With the change of The Times, the mainstream life style of Mongolian people has changed, from the original nomadic life to the rural settlement life and modern city life, this social form will inevitably affect the role and function of nadam.Nadam should stick to its roots, uphold its identity and the ritual function of ethnic feelings, make full use of modern media technology, focus on creating "nadam cultural IP",and increase the promotion of cultural soft power.
