As an excellent representative of Chinese culture,traditional Chinese medicine is an important force for Chinese culture to go to the world.In recent years,with the implementation of policies on TCM,TCM health tourism has gradually emerged.The oversea publicity texts of TCM tourism resources are the first-hand information for the world to understand TCM culture and Chinese culture,so its professionalism and accuracy must be guaranteed.Under the guidance of Functional Translation Theory,this study studies and analyzes the oversea publicity texts of TCM tourism resources,and then puts forward translation principles and strategies so as to enrich the content of TCM translation and promote the "going to the world" of TCM culture.ObjectivesThis paper aims to investigate and analyze the publicity texts of Beijing TCM tourism base,summarizes the current situation,finds out the problems,and puts forward some reference translations and suggestions.This paper also discusses the translation principles and strategies of external publicity texts of TCM tourism resources,and finally provides references for the translation of oversea publicity texts of TCM tourism bases.MethodsBased on the field investigation of representative TCM tourism bases,collection of samples,and the functional translation theory,this study analyze and study the oversea publicity texts of TCM tourism resources and discuss the translation principles and strategies,with literature research method,text analysis method,inductive summary method,and data analysis method.ResultsAfter the field investigation of traditional Chinese medicine tourism base,we have found that some bases do not have the English texts,while the bases with English texts exist many errors,including misspellings,grammatical errors,inconsistent translations,mistranslations,translation pretermission,and so on.And the mistranslations accounts for the largest proportion,followed by the mistakes in grammar,and misspellings,inconsistent translations and translation pretermission account for a relatively small proportion.Conclusions(1)The translation principles of oversea publicity texts of TCM tourism resources are fluency,unity and cultural property.The fluency principle is the first principle to abide by.The second is the unity principle,which aims to make the audience accept the knowledge of TCM more clearly.The principle of cultural property is also essential.The purpose of this principle is to spread traditional Chinese medicine better.(2)The translation strategies of oversea publicity texts of TCM tourism resources include deletion strategy,reference strategy,addition strategy and thinking rewriting strategy.When translating,translators should apply translation strategies appropriately according to the situation of the text.If necessary,multiple strategies can be applied comprehensively to achieve a satisfactory translation purpose.(3)In the process of translation,translators should apply translation principles and strategies flexibly,and analyze the specific texts.Only when theory is combined with practice can an excellent translation be made.InnovationsThe innovation of this project mainly includes the following aspects:(1)This project carried out a systematic and specialized study on the English translation of publicity texts of TCM tourism resources for the first time and achieved certain results.(2)The research results of this project are of practical significance.This study focuses on the translation problems of external publicity texts of traditional Chinese medicine tourism resources and considers the scientificity and rationality from the perspective of Chinese medicine,tourism publicity and English translation,which is conducive to the optimization of oversea publicity texts in English.(3)This research project is in line with policy orientation and development needs.The research results of this project can standardize the external publicity texts of TCM tourism resources,make the English translation of the oversea publicity texts of TCM tourism have rules to follow,and ensure that the English oversea publicity texts can accurately express what they want to express,so as to promote the development of TCM tourism and provide guarantee for it.
