"40 Years Of Diplomatic Relations Between China And The United States: Retrospect And Prospect," A Report On The Practice Of English-Chinese Consecutive Interpretation

This thesis is a report on the simulative consecutive interpretation practice for the eighth episode of a TV program----Vision China: China-US Relations: 40 Years and Beyond,where the historical development and future of the China-US relations have been reviewed.This practice report gives an account of the background and significance as well as the preparation and process of the task.Based on the analysis and re-evaluation of the practice recording and script,such problems as translationese,nominalization-based interpretation and errors in long sentence interpreting are discussed.Causes and corresponding countermeasures including translation variation,de-nominalization and long sentence sense-regrouping are explored.Hopefully this practice and analysis could be of some reference for interpreters in the similar field.
