This translation material is selected from Learning for the Age of Artificial Intelligence(Chapter 5),written by educational psychologist Alan M.Lesgold.This chapter elaborates on the eight competencies needed to survive in the age of intelligent machines and the methods of developing each one.Based on the characteristics of the educational texts,the translation should present information accurately while also achieving readability and fluency.Being anchored in three basic principles of the Skopos theory,this report investigates the corresponding translation strategies with specific cases.From the lexical standpoint,three translation strategies are adopted,including logical extension,rhetorical extension and cultural extension.Three translating strategies are proposed in complex sentences,including sentence structure adjustment,division,and omission.It is hoped that this report can provide a reference for the future translation of educational texts. |
