The source text is Cultural Dimensions of the Oil-Tourism Interface,the third chapter excerpted from ecotourism text Industrial Development and Eco-Tourism:Can Oil Extraction and Nature Conservation Co-exist? The source text is an innovative study on ecotourism and has a significant academic value for the study of the relation between ecotourism and industry.The cultural variation in the oil-tourism interface of Scotland,Norway,Newfoundland ? Labrador,Denmark and Iceland are discussed in this chapter.The translation report consists of five chapters,which are task description,pre-translation preparation,translation implantation from chapter 1-3,and practice summarization in chapter 5.In chapter 4,the translation in words,sentence and text were analyzed according to Reiss' s text typology theory as well as the linguistic characteristics of informative texts,and finally appropriate strategies were summarized.Literal translation with notes and semantic extension are applied in lexical level;Sentence structure reorganization and sentence sense supplementation are applied in sentence level;Lexical cohesion and grammatical cohesion are applied in textual coherence.It is hoped that this report can shed some light on translation in ecotourism text. |
