As a pilot province of new urbanization with mountainous characteristics in China,Guizhou Province has witnessed a rapid urbanization process in recent years. In the critical period of development and transformation in a new era, basic public services should follow the level of urban economic development and maintain a balanced level to meet people's growing needs for a better life.In this context, exploring the interaction relationship between basic public services and urbanization construction have important reference meaning for the construction of new type of urbanization in Guizhou mountainous characteristics.First of all,a bibliometric analysis of the research results in the field of basic public services and urbanization found that the number of research results was weak, and the perspective is micro and the research level is single, which provides an opportunity for this study. Then, based on the statistical data of Guizhou Province in five years, the basic public service and urbanization evaluation index system was constructed to explore the comprehensive development level and driving mechanism of basic public service and urbanization construction in various regions of Guizhou Province. We found that: In the overall development of Guizhou Province, infrastructure construction and economic development are the important driving forces of basic public services and urbanization development in Guizhou Province, while the development of public culture and sports, public education and green urbanization are relatively underdeveloped. The balanced development of the internal elements of each system is the key to realize the high-level development of basic public services and urbanization systems. Then the coupling coordination degree model was introduced to further study the coordinated development of the two,and the development differences between basic public services and urbanization in different regions of Guizhou Province were explored from a spatial perspective. Finally,it is found that there is a certain correlation between basic public services and the spatial evolution pattern of urbanization in Guizhou Province. With the gradual improvement of urbanization level, basic public services are also developing and progressing. However, the basic public services in the urbanization process is relatively backward; The coupling type is transferred from intermediate coordination stage to good coordination stage, but the coupling stage is still in the running-in stage, and the internal components of each subsystem have not realized the truly high level of optimization and coordination situation. There are two reasons why the preliminary study did not enter the high level coupling stage: one is the uneven development of sub-systems;Second,there is a gap between basic public services and urbanization in the development levels of various regions in Guizhou Province. In view of the above research conclusions, this paper puts forward the following suggestions: Build the basic public service supply structure with the government as the main body and the diversified social organizations as the supplement; We need to vigorously promote the construction of infrastructure and social undertakings and improve the quality of public services; The construction of green and livable city is guided by the concept of ecological civilization and sustainable development; In the process of development, each region should combine with its own development status, adjust measures to local conditions, make up for the lack with the best in its own region, and realize the balanced development of the region with the strong and the weak in the whole province,so as to march towards the goal of high-level coupling.
