Mathematics is a very important basic subject. However,it is always difficult for students to learn mathematics."Mathematics is difficult to learn" and "mathematics is too abstract" are popular pet phrases among students. It seems to be a normal state that some students, especially those with weak foundation, turn pale at the mere mention of mathematics. In our classroom teaching,we often find that students who are good at learning mathematics have a strong learning motivation, and they are very attentive and focused in learning mathematics. In this research topic the author choose an urban junior high school and a rural school as the key research objects and make an investigation and an analysis on them in the form of questionnaire and practice. The main contents of the research are as follows:to investigate and analyze junior middle school students' mathematics learning abilities(comprehension, transformation and innovation)from the perspective of non-intelligence factors(motivation, interest and willpower);to find out how non-intelligence factors influence junior middle school students' mathematics learning ability;to explore the characteristics, differences and correlation of the students' learning ability and non-intelligence factors in different grades and schools;to discover the focuses and strategies on cultivating the non-intelligence factors of the students from different grades. The current situation of the students' learning ability in junior high school has the following characteristics:(1)There is still room for improvement in basic understanding and lack of understanding in ability improvement;(2)the goal of transformation is not clear enough, and the transformation means are relatively simple;(3)the innovation impetus is insufficient, and the innovation depth is superficial;(4)there is age difference in learning ability, and the difference between urban and rural areas is more obvious. The current situation of students' non-intelligence factors in junior high school has the following characteristics:(1)Learning motivation weakens with the increase of grade;(2)learning motivation is necessary in the later guidance;(3)learning interest weakens with the increase of grade;(4)learning interest is equally important in the later guidance;(5)willpower increases with the increase of grade;(6)the overall performance of willpower is better than that of motivation and interest;(7)junior high school students are obvious self-disciplined.There is a great correlation between learning ability and non-intelligence factors, and especially motivation has the greatest impact on learning ability,so it is very important and valuable for the cultivation of students' motivation. In addition, although there is a large gap in learning ability between different schools, there is no obvious gap in their correlation. The seventh grade should focus on the cultivation of interest:(1)creating situation for cultivating interest;(2)conducting experiments for forming interest;(3)actively exploring for promoting interest. The eighth grade should pay attention to the cultivation of motivation:(1)set clear learning objectives to deepen internal motivation;(2)employ innovative incentive methods to strengthen external motivation;(3)reflect the diversity of personality to optimize the combination of internality and externality. The ninth grade should lay emphasis on the cultivation of willpower:(1)starting from small things to cultivate the persistence in willpower;(2)starting from self to cultivate the consciousness in willpower;(3)starting from now to cultivate the self-discipline in willpower. The conclusion of this paper is based on the result of the analysis of the experiments, which is of some valuable reference in understanding the current situation of junior middle school students' mathematics learning ability and cultivating students' mathematics learning ability from the perspective of non-intelligence factors.
