"Walking in Science" is a column in PEP high school physics textbook,currently due to score as the most important thing to parents,many teachers ignored the development of teaching materials,ignoring the diverse learning needs of students,Open columns outside the main contents of textbooks are ignored,resulting in the functional role of textbooks in each column can not be achieved."Walking in Science" column is rich and varied,in close touch with the basics of physics,but also contains a lot of physical ideas and physical methods,teaching with columns,not only to expand classroom material,rendering the atmosphere in the classroom,but also to deepen the impression of knowledge,help students construct knowledge,to cultivate students'thinking ability.The purpose of this paper is to study the column of "Walking in science".to explore how to effectively "Walking in science" column in teaching,what policies and principles to follow,to the greatest play section of the role and function to inspire students'interest in learning physics,to expand their horizons,enrich their knowledge,improve students'physical scientific literacy.This paper is based on a school investigation of the use of columns,by issuing questionnaires to students,can know the initial section of familiarity and usage to understand the factors affecting students column,for after processing Column Teaching helpful role.Also on the column text analysis done by studying textbooks,according to the column on the role of teaching,the "Walking in science" column have been classified in order to better help teaching.Combined with access to information and practice summed up the function of "Walking in science" column in teaching,the use of columns teaching to teacher-led,problem-focused,group discussion as the main learning methods when teaching should be appropriate to expand columns,but pay attention to the depth of the teaching content,or deviate from course standard requirements and have the daily and the times.With a compulsory "Walking in science" column instructional design teaching practice in the experimental class,in the teaching process,constantly updated summary of teaching strategies,and finally to evaluate the teaching effect in the form of tests and interviews.Through quantitative and qualitative evaluation can be drawn "Walking in science" column have helped in teaching knowledge to practical ability to expand their horizons,learning and other aspects of interest to improve student achievement and improve."Walking in science"column of teaching can help students deepen the impression of what they have learned,to consolidate the lesson content standard requirements at the same time,to meet the needs of students for extra-curricular knowledge.Students in the process of access to extra-curricular materials,improving the ability to distinguish useful information and interference information.Open discussion can stimulate students' desire for knowledge,the spirit of inquiry,the interest in learning physics,the ability of cooperation and expression,and the comprehensive quality of students.In the end,the paper looks forward to the future research.It is hoped that the future research can make full use of the educational role of the column in the teaching materials in the form of"micro class" to create a platform and better serve the front-line teachers and students with the help of the Internet and the trend of the times.
