STEM education is the abbreviation of the first letter of the four disciplines of Science,Technology,Engineer and Mathematics.It focuses on integrating the subject knowledge and skills of each subject and applying it to actual teaching during the activity,students are allowed to integrate scattered knowledge of various subjects and solve problems encountered in daily life in a thorough manner.Through this series of activities,you can increase the learner's interest in learning and promote the improvement of students' innovative ability,hands-on ability and teamwork ability.The development and application of STEM education is also in line with the national economic and social transformation demands for talent training.For the subject of geography,it has comprehensive,regional and practical characteristics.The questions it explores are mostly comprehensive and complex issues,such as contemporary population,resources,environment and development issues.Disciplinary knowledge cannot be solved accurately,which requires a combination of knowledge from other disciplines.As a relatively comprehensive teaching concept,STEM education concept aims at solving complex problems,applies interdisciplinary knowledge to solve problems,and cultivates students' innovative thinking,practical ability and comprehensive problem-solving ability,which is in line with the characteristics of geography.Therefore,applying STEM education concepts to actual geography teaching is a profound implementation of the core qualities of geography.This research is mainly based on STEM education conforms to the characteristics of geography discipline characteristic,by combing the literature analysis,draw lessons from successful cases and research both at home and abroad,and the STEM education concept into Lhasa in the process of the practical teaching of high school geography,and in Beijing,Lhasa to its application in middle school geography teaching is effective to provide practical basis.This research firstly combs the current research status of STEM education at home and abroad,as well as its conceptual characteristics and theoretical basis through literature research.Using questionnaires and interviews to investigate the geography teachers and students of the author's internship school,to understand the current situation of students 'geography learning and teachers' application of STEM education in geography teaching,combined with the use of STEM education principles to select high school geography teaching cases for design.Taking the students of Beijing middle school in Lhasa as the research object,the practical application of STEM education in geography teaching in high school was studied,and the teaching effect was tested.In other words,two classes were selected for the learning effect test and the test results were analyzed.The results show that teachers and students are more recognized for STEM education.The application of STEM education to the geography teaching of Beijing Middle School Senior High School in Lhasa City has effectively improved the students' learning achievements.Comprehensive thinking ability and geographic practical ability.Finally,the author proposes to improve and look forward to the three aspects of curriculum resources,faculty and evaluation system according to the survey status of STEM education.It is hoped that this study can provide reference and discussion for relevant local education researchers,as well as provide reference and reference for geography teachers struggling to develop STEM education.
