Along with the increasing demand of the society for innovative and comprehensive talents,the attention of all countries in the world is gradually put on the development of STEM education.STEM education is an interdisciplinary education that integrates the four disciplines of science,technology,engineering and mathematics by means of practice,engineering design,project problems,etc.Its characteristics include cross-disciplinary,design and practical.Nowadays,geography curriculum in senior high school requires the cultivation of students' subject core accomplishment,which means that teachers should try new ideas and methods in daily geography teaching and the development of extended curriculum.Therefore,through questionnaire survey,website search,teaching interview and other ways to understand the current situation of geography expansion courses in senior high school,aiming at the current geography expansion courses in the process of opening problems,reasons and optimization strategies to carry out further research.This paper is divided into six parts.First part mainly expounds the background of STEM education for the cultivation of talents and the new requirements of the reform of geography curriculum in senior high schools in China,analyzes the theoretical and practical significance of developing geography expansion curriculum design in senior high schools based on the concept of STEM education,and considers the methods and steps of carrying out this research on the basis of searching the official website to understand the current situation of geography expansion curriculum research in senior high schools in Shanghai.The second part uses the content analysis method to sort out the concept,generation and development course of STEM education,to define the concept of STEM education and the concept of geography expansion curriculum,and to seek theoretical support for the design of geography expansion curriculum by combining Taylor's goal model,Bruner's "discovery method" and constructivism.The third part uses the questionnaire survey method,the website search method,theteacher interview method to carry on the geography expansion type curriculum establishment present situation to the Shanghai district high school.In the fourth part,based on the data processing,the present situation of geography extended curriculum in senior high school is summarized.Chapter five is the optimization strategy of high school geography expansion course,and according to the strategy of offering interdisciplinary course,combining the results of teacher interview and STEM interdisciplinary idea,the case design of high school geography expansion course based on STEM idea is formed from the perspective of curriculum design mode,content selection,teaching method and evaluation method.The sixth part is based on the curriculum case design selected one of the theme "water cycle" for the specific teaching process design.Through the research,the main problems of geography expansion curriculum in senior high school are as follows: from the school level,the curriculum is rich,but the single characteristic is obvious;the implementation mode is diverse,but the theory teaching is dominant;the evaluation mechanism is diversified,but the students' mutual evaluation is less.From the teacher level,the participation of curriculum development is high,but the quality effect is not good;the willingness of curriculum development is strong,but it is under pressure from the outside world;the content of teaching is extensive,but the rigor needs to be promoted;the teaching style is distinct,but tends to the traditional classroom.The reasons for these problems are that the school has not formulated a detailed curriculum outline implementation plan,has not formed a rich interdisciplinary curriculum resource bank,has not changed the traditional curriculum implementation form;teachers have insufficient understanding of the development of extended curriculum and limited ability to implement it.Based on the analysis of STEM interdisciplinary integration model and geography-expansion curriculum,this paper puts forward the optimization strategy of geography-expansion curriculum,which aims to cultivate students' geography core accomplishment.The course optimization needs to be carried out from the following three aspects: perfecting the curriculum outline and innovating the implementation form;enriching the curriculum resources and offering interdisciplinary courses;strengthening teacher training and enhancing professional ability.
