Active labor participation plays an important role in improving the quality of life,alleviating psychological problems such as loneliness,and enhancing the value of life,especially in the current ageing of China's population.Actively encourage middle-aged and elderly groups to participate in social labor.The problems such as declining labor supply and increasing social burden are more realistic.In previous studies on labor participation of middle-aged and elderly people,most scholars explored the factors that affect the work of middle-aged and elderly people from the perspective of individuals based on the theory of active aging and activity theory.The impact of the information environment of the representative on the labor participation of middle-aged and elderly groups.Obviously,the development of the Internet has created flexible forms of employment and provided numerous jobs,such as platform live broadcast,Taobao shop owners,etc.These flexible and diverse jobs provide opportunities for the work of middle-aged and elderly people.The number of Internet users continues to increase and digital literacy continues to increase,which also provides support for participating in social labor in the context of the information society.Therefore,based on human capital theory,social capital theory,and leisure time theory,this paper uses 2015 data from the China Comprehensive Social Survey and uses Probit regression analysis to empirically discuss the impact of Internet use on the labor participation of middle-aged and elderly people.The results of the research are as follows:(1)Internet use has significantly increased the labor participation of the middle-aged and elderly people.On the basis of using instrumental variables to eliminate endogenousness,it is found that the impact of Internet use on the labor participation of the middle-aged and elderly people is further increased;(2)As the frequency of Internet use increases,The promotion of labor participation of middle-aged and elderly people is also increasing;(3)Heterogeneity is investigated by urban and rural areas and gender,and it is found that Internet use has a stronger role in promoting labor participation of urban and male middle-aged and elderly people;(4)Based on leisure time Theoretically,it explores the influence of different preferences of Internet use in leisure time on the labor participation of middle-agedand elderly people.It is found that the use of Internet for learning and social activities in leisure time can significantly increase the enthusiasm of labor participation of middle-aged and elderly people.Middle-aged and elderly human capital Thereby affecting the social capital to participate in the mechanism of labor analysis;(5)confirmed the robustness and validity of the results by PSM robustness tests.Based on the above conclusions,this paper further puts forward the feasibility suggestions for the Internet to promote the labor participation of the elderly:(1)The government level should increase investment in Internet infrastructure,especially in rural areas,relying on communities and village committees to carry out Internet skills training;(2)The enterprise level should improve the employee training system,especially for the Internet work skills training of middle-aged and elderly people,and software development companies should strengthen the software aging design;(3)The individual level should strengthen the learning and use of the Internet to continuously improve its own Human capital and social capital should also be good at using internet learning platforms to strengthen the grasp of job-app APP operation skills and reduce information acquisition costs.
