The graduate assistant system refers to the job of graduate students working as management assistants,teaching assistants,research assistants or temporary counselors in spare time and improving their ability and quality.This work is characterized by support and education,which is useful exploration and practice in China to improve students' comprehensive quality and guarantee their education quality.In the actual practice,however,“graduate assistants work” is still used as a means of human resources for scientific research,teaching,and management in many colleges and universities.The work is used as student assistance and poverty alleviation but ignore its moral education function.Focused on the moral education function of the graduate assistant system,this paper refers to the moral education theory,and follows the principle of theory and practice.The document analysis method,interviewing method and some other methods were used to conduct a questionnaire survey on and interview with the graduate students of four colleges and universities in Xianlin Region who participated the graduate assistant system.A total of 500 questionnaires were given out,and 492 valid questionnaires were collected.This paper figured out the current situation,analyzed the cause,and used theoretical foundations such as implicit moral education theory,humanistic education concept and self-efficacy theory to investigate and analyze the current situation of the graduate assistant system,so as to find out the cause for the failure of moral education function of the graduate assistant system.It provides some reference for enhancing its moral education function and cultivating students' moral accomplishment.This paper found from the investigation that,firstly,many schools haven't formulated a sound system for the graduate assistant system as a management system,lack examination and evaluation mechanism and incentive mechanism,and never carry out any regulations of rights and liabilities on position setting units and advisers.Secondly,in terms of the execution of work,some schools do not really pay attentionto the moral education function of the graduate assistant system,but only regard it as a part of the graduate student funding system.As a result,the work content deviates from the high-level development needs of graduate students.Thirdly,a number of advisers who have participated in the work lack the “full-time education” view,so that they put employment first and cultivation second.Fourthly,the graduate students often hold a negative attitude towards the graduate assistant system and have utilitarian motivation with limited personal ability,so that they are not capable of such a challenging job.After analyzing the cause for the failure of moral education function of the graduate assistant system,this paper proposes the following solutions.Firstly,based on the principles of systematic and independent cultivation first with different emphases,colleges and universities improve their system and determine the work orientation of “full-time education”;secondly,improve advisers' manner of working,increase interaction and exchanges between teachers and students,and combine employment with cultivation perfectly;thirdly,graduate students should treat their job positively and actively and enhance their sense of moral education efficacy.By investigating and analyzing the current situation of the graduate assistant system,we found out the cause for the failure of moral education function of the graduate assistant system,put forward effective solutions,and dig out its moral education resources.It helps to facilitate the graduate students' job of the graduate assistant system,promotes the improvement of students' comprehensive quality,and contributes to the expansion of new channels of moral education in colleges and universities.
