Historical maps are not only an important course resource in teaching,but also an important teaching method to transform classroom teaching methods.With the advancement of quality education and the reform of the new curriculum,many middle school history teachers can realize the value of historical maps for historical learning and apply them consciously to the classroom.The value of historical maps can not only arouse students' learning interest and help students understand historical knowledge,but also cultivate students' learning ability,build time and space concepts for students,and open up a global perspective.Only in this way can the basic,interesting and human nature of history education be implemented.However,in practical teaching,due to various subjective and objective factors,there are still many unsolved problems in the teaching of historical maps.The specific problems are that teachers have too little knowledge of historical maps,improper use of methods,and insufficient knowledge reserves.In terms of students,the main problems are poor map literacy,weak map recognition ability,and rarely consciously using historical maps to learn.Based on this situation,the author takes the current junior high school history textbooks uniformly prepared by the Ministry of Education as an example,and aims at the problems existing in the teaching of world history maps in middle schools,combined with the teaching practices of many front-line teachers,classify historical maps in textbooks according to historical geographic maps,historical area distribution maps,historical range expansion maps,and historical area evolution maps.Finally,a specific and directional teaching method is proposed.
