The Effect Of Self-employment On Workers' Happiness

At present,the principal contradiction in our society has been transformed into the contradiction between unbalanced and inadequate development and the people's ever-growing needs for a better life.To make people's sense of happiness,security and gain more secure,more substantial and more sustainable is the importance the party and the country attach to people's better life and happiness,and also reflects the importance of happiness in people's lives.As an economic phenomenon,self-employment is ubiquitous in China.On the one hand,self-employment can relieve employment pressure,realize reasonable allocation of labor force and reduce poverty.On the other hand,subsistence self-employed people are not supervised by the government and live outside the social security system.They are under great pressure from work and life,and their income and welfare status are not optimistic,which reduces their happiness level.This,in turn,will be detrimental to China's socialist modernization drive and the people's pursuit of a better life.Therefore,the level of happiness of self-employed people should be valued.Based on the review of related literature and on the basis of analyzing the status quo of the self-employed happiness,happiness based on labor market segmentation theory and utility theory,using dynamic survey data in 2016 of Chinese labor force(CLDS2016),study the influence of the self-employed to laborer happiness,first through the characteristics of the self-employed person and descriptive statistical analysis,the happiness level understanding of the self-employed and happiness in our country and the influence of the heterogeneity of happiness of laborer,and from the life satisfaction,job satisfaction and financial satisfaction self-employed from three angles:the transmission mechanism of the impact of labourers to happiness.Empirical findings:self-employment significantly reduces the overall well-being of workers.According to the sub-sample estimation,self-employment has a greater impact on the happiness of male workers.Compared with urban laborers,self-employment significantly reduces the happiness of rural laborers.Compared with workers with qualification certificates,workers without vocational qualification certificates have weaker employability,and self-employment has a greater negative impact on their happiness.This shows that breaking the urban-rural dual structure and standardizing the labor market can help alleviate the loss of workers' happiness,which is also an effective measure that the government should take.At the same time,the research on the conduction of self-employment to happiness found that through affecting the work satisfaction,life satisfaction and wealth happiness of workers,self-employment ultimately affects the overall happiness.In other words,self-employment significantly reduced workers' job satisfaction,life satisfaction and financial satisfaction.As for the problem that the happiness level of workers is reduced due to self-employed activities,the following suggestions are put forward:One is build a self-employed person social protection system,protection of self-employed activity;The second is to improve the social integration degree of the self-employed,improve the labor market;Third,improving the vocational skills training system,enhance the self-employed person employment ability;Four is based on community self-employed activities flexible management,improve the self-employed person working environment.
