Junior high school students are in an important period of adolescent development.At this stage,their psychological mechanisms are not yet fully developed,and they may be overly concerned with themselves,pursue freedom,emphasise independence,and easily neglect the care of their loved ones.Some works containing images of mothers have been selected for inclusion in the junior secondary language textbooks.Mothers' attitudes to the world,their moral codes for themselves,their role in the family and their relationships with family members,and their behaviour in social life are all exemplary for students.Therefore,the effective use of mother images in teaching materials has positive educational significance as it helps to promote a correct view of kinship among students and helps them to understand and appreciate their own mothers correctly.This article is developed in three main parts.Firstly,the selection and classification of mother images in the Ministry's junior high school language textbooks are sorted out and further explored to find out the educational significance of mother images.There are three main types of mother images,and those in the textbooks can be categorised as kind and loving,hardworking and tough,and brash and simple.A proper understanding of mother images: they help to promote the transmission of good traditional culture,strengthen students' education on kinship and gratitude,and help students to construct correct values.Secondly,it explores the current situation,teaching principles and teaching strategies of teaching mother images in junior secondary language textbooks under the Ministry of Education.At present,the teaching of mother images is worthy of recognition,but there are also problems such as the small number of selected texts on mother images,the stereotyped interpretation of mother images,teachers' insufficient understanding of the psychological development of junior high school students and the inadequate use of the emotional education value of mother images.The teaching of mother images should follow the principles of text-based,contextual and emotional enrichment;and in concrete teaching practice,teaching strategies can be adopted to clarify teaching objectives based on mother images,avoid blindly inciting emotions to bring into play the role of teachers,respond to psychological development to supplement extra-curricular resources,combine writing teaching to strengthen emotional education and connect with real-life situations to stimulate learning interests.Thirdly,based on the teaching strategy of mother image,two teaching examples are shown.Take reading teaching "Autumn's Remembrance" as an example,guiding students to understand the deep motherly love implied by the article,and inspiring them to be grateful by linking it to the realities of life.In the case of the integrated learning teaching "Filial piety and respect for the elderly,starting from me",students are helped to get to know their own mothers,to link book knowledge with real-life situations,to deeply feel the culture of "filial piety",to be grateful to their parents,and to respect others.
