Local historical materials refer to the political,economic and cultural development of a specific region and the remains of human activities in the history of the region,representing the culture and spirit of the place.In order to enhance students’ patriotic spirit and cultural quality,the Ministry of education of China emphasizes that teachers should strengthen the development and utilization of local historical materials and community resources in the "compulsory education history curriculum standard(2011 Edition)".Therefore,most local middle schools in the country advocate the integration of local historical materials into history teaching.Taking Zanhuang County as an example,this paper investigates the use of local historical materials in the junior high school history teaching in the county.The results show that the junior high school students in the county have a certain understanding of the local historical materials of Zanhuang County,and the students are very interested in the local historical materials of Zanhuang County,and the teachers can also integrate the limited local historical materials into the history teaching.However,through the current situation,we find that there are some prominent problems in the use of local historical materials in junior high school history teaching in Zanhuang County,such as teachers’ improper handling of local historical materials and teaching materials,single teaching method of teachers’ using local historical materials,less practical activities of local historical materials teaching in schools,and teaching effect of local historical materials to be verified.There are also many reasons for the above problems: on the one hand,teachers’ awareness of the importance of using local historical materials is insufficient,and teachers’ professional quality is insufficient and lack of professional guidance;on the other hand,the school’s support to carry out local historical materials learning activities is insufficient and lack of social and policy support.In view of this,this paper puts forward the following improvement measures for the application of local historical materials in junior high school history teaching:teachers should organically combine the local historical materials of Zanhuang county with the teaching contents of teaching materials,closely connect the local historical materials of the county with the teaching contents of the teaching materials;enrich the teaching methods of the local historical materials,improve the professional quality of the teachers using the local historical materials;construct the network sharing of the local historical materials Database;in-depth integration of the cultivation of students’ core literacy in history and the teaching of local historical materials.
