As an important method of moral education,model education,by the real and three-dimensional value carrier of example,embodies and personifies social ethics to help students form an attitude of learning and imitating the model,which has great teaching effect and realistic value.From the perspective of the educator,model education is a kind of teaching process from the emotional identity to rational acceptance.From the perspective of the educated,model education is a dynamic process of observation-correction-experience-generation.And at the national level,model education is a kind of educational activity that guides and transmits mainstream values.Model education has individual function and social function.It is an important spiritual force for the progress of the times and the development of practice,and it plays an important role in straightening out social moral norms,cultivating people's moral sentiments,and improving the degree of social civilization.The model education has the social historicity,and its development situation is different under different historical conditions.China's model education has shown different characteristics in different historical periods such as in the early period of the founding of the People's Republic of China,during the period of the "Cultural Revolution",the early days of reform and opening up,and since the new century,which reflects the particularity and regularity of the development of model education in China.Taking the practical activities of model education as the research object,this paper systematically combs the development performance of model education in different historical stages since the founding of the New China,summarizes its main experience,and affirms the historical role and significance of model education in China to provide historical reference for the current model education.With the rapid development and changes of the times,the profound changes and intricacies of individual thoughts,model education has gradually fallen into the real dilemma,such as the weakening of effectiveness,the serious tendency of formalism,the limitations in the selection of model characters and the problems of model educators themselves,which makes it difficult for model education to achieve new development and breakthroughs.Therefore,it is necessary to analyze the causes of the problems from the changes of objective environment,the lack of humanistic care,the impact of cultural thoughts and so on,in order to provide the realistic basis for the research of the development countermeasures of model education.Model education is an important way to cultivate people's moral quality and improve the level of social civilization.Therefore,it is necessary to scientifically select the role models,expand the channels of model education,optimize the environment of model education,and improve the mechanism of model education combining the changes and requirements of the times,so as to promote the effective development of model education and give full play to the important role of model education in the new era.
